Sea Dragons compete in state championships

The Fayetteville YMCA Sea Dragons wrapped up competition at the North Carolina Swimming Age Group State Championships held in Cary on Feb. 18–21. Overall, the Sea Dragons placed 17th with the girls placing 12th.

Leading the Sea Dragons was London Schumacher (13–14 girls). London placed 1st in the 1000 Free (10:17.80), 200 Butterfly (2:08.00), and Mile Free (17:22.00) and 2nd in the 400 individual medley (4:30.32) in route to winning the high point award as the top all around swimmer for the 13–14 girls.

Connor Johnson also medaled in 200 IM (2:07.90) and 100 Backstroke (58.81).

N.C. AAU Wrestling event slated for Aberdeen

Got a call recently from Ken Hadaway, owner of the Aberdeen Sports Complex, letting me know about a wrestling event coming to his venue.

The North Carolina AAU Wrestling Middle School and Elementary Championships will take place this Saturday at the Aberdeen Sports Complex.

Wrestlers will be on hand from all over the state.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL MAKE-UP FCPR YOUTH BASKETBALL GAMES AND INSTRUCTIONAL BASKETBALL CAMPS.

Jan. 30, 2010 and Feb. 13, 2010 Youth Basketball and Instructional Camps make up schedule posted below:

Due to the youth basketball games and instructional basketball camps that were postponed on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, we will move all postponed games and instructional basketball camps to Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, as it appeared on the original schedule of games. All youth basketball games and instructional camps that were scheduled for Feb. 13, 2010, will now be rescheduled on March 6, 2010 as it appeared on the original schedule of games. The following sites will be affected by these new changes posted.

Grays Creek Recreation Center:

A. The game that was schedule on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, 7-8 year youth basketball at 9 a.m. has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at 6 p.m. Please inform both coaches of the Grays Creek Tigers and Grays Creek Tar Heels of this change.

B. The game that was scheduled on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 7-8 year youth basketball at 9 a.m. has been moved to Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 6 p.m. Please inform both coaches of the Grays Creek Blue Devils and Grays Creek Tigers of this change.

Stedman Recreation Center:

A. The game that was scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, 7-8 year youth basketball at 9 a.m. has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at 6 p.m. Please inform both coaches of the Stedman Rugrats and Stedman Cavaliers of this change.

B. The game that was scheduled on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 7-8 year youth basketball at 9 a.m. has been move to Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 6 p.m. Please inform both coaches of the Stedman Bobcats and Stedman Rugrats of this change.

A. All instructional basketball camps will now be schedule for Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 and March 6, 2010 under the scheduled format of the instructors. This will be the last day of instructional basketball camps. Please inform your parents of these changes.

Weekend activities cancelled

The John D. Fuller Sr Recreational/Athletic Complex will begin its 2010 Adult Winter League tonight with 11 Men’s teams and 3 Women’s Teams.

Recreational/Athletic Complex 6627 Old Bunce Rd during the games Thursday & Friday. Game times are 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. both days.
