Cross Creek Cycling Club CX3 update

October 29, 2009

From our friend Col. Mike Thomas…

The Cross Creek Cycling Club participated in the first two races of the North Carolina Cyclo Cross Series this past weekend, with races in Cary on Saturday, and in Raleigh on Sunday. Eleven adults and six juniors raced for the team.

Justin Evans, 18, from Raeford, raced in the Men’s CX3 Races. These races are for more experienced racers that have had high placing in previous races. Justin placed 14th out of 42 racers in Cary, and placed 17th out of 39 racers on Sunday. These were outstanding results as these fields had racers from 19-52 years of age.

Daniel Brew, 14, from Fayetteville, raced in the Men’s CX4 Races. This field had the most racers. Daniel placed 45th out of 88 racers in Cary; and 46th out of 65 racers in Raleigh. It is important to note that Daniel no longer racers against other riders his own age, as these races had Men ranging from 15 to 58 years old.

In the Juniors races for ages 10-14 years old, Luke Thomas, 11, from Fayetteville, placed 4th in both races, while Daniel Pickard, 12, from Cameron paced 5th then 6th in the two races, and Trey Leach, 12, from Raeford, placed 7th on Saturday, and 5th on Sunday.
