Youth soccer registration

The John D. Fuller Sr. Recreational/Athletic Complex is currently accepting registrations for its “2010 Tiny Tots Indoor Soccer Camp” for Kids ages 5-8. The camp will offer instruction, training skills and techniques of dribbling, passing and shooting. In addition, there will be competitions to put the skills and techniques taught into practice. The registration fee is only $20.

Adult women’s basketball league

The John D. Fuller Sr. Recreational/Athletic Complex will be holding a meeting for all lady ballers ages 18 and older who are interested in participating in an adult women’s basketball league.

This meeting will take place on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the John D. Fuller Sr Recreational/Athletic Complex located at 6627 Old Bunce Rd (near 71st High School). This meeting is just to find out if there is an interest in the community for women’s Basketball.

The John D. Fuller Sr. Recreational/Athletic Complex is currently accepting registrations for its “2010 Tiny Tots T-Ball League” for kids ages 4 – 6. Let us introduce your little slugger to the “Fun” -damentals of T-Ball.

Hey players, parents and coaches when your current basketball leagues are ending in March, ours are just beginning!

The John D. Fuller Sr. Recreational/Athletic Complex is currently accepting team registrations for its Youth Basketball League. Teams can register for the following ages 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-17. Registration is $250 per 10-person team or $25 per player. Rosters can not exceed 15 players.

The season will begin in March after your current seasons end. AAU Teams are welcome.

Spring Lake basketball registration

The Spring Lake Recreation Department is taking registration for youth basketball for ages 3-17 through Friday, Nov. 13.

The registration fee is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

A coaches meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. for any individuals who are interested in volunteering as a head or assistant coach. For more information, call the department at 436-0011 or 578-7317.

Adult basketball registration

The John D. Fuller Sr. Recreational/Athletic Complex is currently accepting team registrations for its 2010 Winter Adult Basketball League.

Registration fee is $350 for a 10-person team. Additional players are $35 per extra player. Team rosters can not exceed 15.

Games will be played Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings with some Saturdays. Season Starts in January.

Hope Mills basketball registration

The Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Department will hold registration for the 2010 winter basketball season from Thursday, Oct. 1 until Tuesday, Dec. 1. 

The fees are $30 for one child and $20 for each additional child from the same family, living in the same household. We accept cash or check as payment for fees.

At the time of registration, please provide a birth certificate, passport, or military ID as proof of age if your child/children did not participate during our 2009 fall sports season. 

The hours of registration are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The ages to participate in basketball are from 7-17, and there is an instructional league for ages 5-6.  

Games begin in January. Children must live in the school districts serviced by the Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, call 424-4500.

The Hope Mills Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration through Feb. 28 for the spring adult (men’s and co-ed) softball league. The fee is $500 per team. For more information, call 426-4108.

Travel softball team

These usually wind up in the recreation calendar, but when they end up on my phone, they get put up here.

The N.C. Sand Devils 14U travel softball team is looking for players from Hoke and Cumberland counties.

Tryouts are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21 from noon until 3 p.m. at East Hoke Middle School.

Run for the Troops

The Fort Bragg USO Center is sponsoring, in conjunction with Valley Auto World, the Run for the Troops 5K on Saturday, March 7 at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

The event, which features both an adult 5K run/walk and a kids’ version, will benefit the Fort Bragg USO facility and outreach programs. In addition to being a fundraiser, the community is encouraged to come out and show its support for our local military. The 82nd Airborne Chorus will also be on hand.

It’s $20 to pre-register for the adult event and $12 for the kids’ event. The fees bump up to $25 and $15 on race day.
