The high school playoffs are under way, but the younger players in the county are trophy hunting as well.

Spring Lake basketball registration

November 9, 2009

From our friend Kenneth Metcalf…

The Spring Lake Recreation Department is taking registration for youth basketball for ages 3-17 through Friday, Nov. 13.

The registration fee is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

A coaches meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. for any individuals who are interested in volunteering as a head or assistant coach. For more information, call the department at 436-0011 or 578-7317.

Spring Lake making switch to Little League

November 9, 2009

From our friend Kenneth Metcalf…

These are exciting times for Spring Lake Youth Baseball and Softball. The Recreation Department is switching to “Little League Baseball,” the world authority on youth sports. The process for switching has already begun and now we need your help.

Little League requires the involvement of the entire community in order to produce the best possible league for the kids. Our department in conjuction with our Recreation Advisory Board is in full agreement with this philosophy.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that the clock is ticking toward our beginning of registration (January….forms mailed in December)….We now require your immediate help in getting this off the ground.

Our initial meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Community Center. If you plan on coaching in 2010 or if you are interested in having your son/daughter in our program – or even just an interested citizen, this meeting will benefit you.
